It’s now a law – you must eat Whoopie Pies (not really, but they are definitely yummy)!

On April 21, 2011 a bill passed making Whoopie Pies Maine’s Official State Treat. This bill became law on September 28, 2011 (90 days after the legislative session ended).

The bill titled, “‘An Act To Designate the Whoopie Pie as the State Treat,” states:

The whoopie pie, a baked good made of 2 cakes with a creamy frosting between them, is the official state treat.

The Fireside Inn & Suites Lake Winnipesaukee Welcomes New General Manager

GILFORD, New Hampshire: Fireside Inn & Suites is pleased to announce that Francis Tuscano has joined the hotel as General Manager. Mr. Tuscano has thirty-five years of experience in the Hospitality Industry.

He has worked for the past 8 years as the General Manager of the Anchorage Inns & Suites in Portsmouth and Rochester N.H.

Mr. Tuscano was previously employed by LaCava Associates as a general Manager at several of their properties in Waltham, Marlboro and Fitchburg, MA.

Mr. Tuscano is looking forward to getting involved with the local community charities. In the past 12 years he has been a member of Rotary International as well as other organizations.

The Fireside Inn & Suites is located at 17 Harris Shore Road, Route 11, in Gilford and has 24 suites and 59 full size rooms. The Fireside Inn & Suites is owned by Lafayette Hotels.
